
Jerry Oliveiro
Jerry is a highly motivated, skilled, and enthusiastic individual with diverse expertise in psychotherapy, education, organisation development, and youth work. He started his own practice, Youth Empowerment SG, in 2021. Concurrently, he serves as a full-time psychology, sociology, and research lecturer and counsellor at a tertiary institution; and a Defence Psychologist with MINDEF during his NSMan in-camp-training.
As a psychotherapist, Jerry specialises in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and the Gestalt approach. He also has a keen interest in Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT). He is particularly effective in working with youths and young adults, taking a humanistic approach heavily influenced by psychologists such as Carl Rogers. His pluralistic approach to therapy allows him to blend various techniques to best suit the needs of his clients.
Throughout his career, Jerry has worked in a variety of environments, including one-on-one therapy sessions, focus groups, and classroom lessons with at-risk youths from diverse social backgrounds. He has also conducted workshops on mental health, psychology, resilience, and youth-work for both adults and professionals.
